Welcome!
My name is Jaspreet Bains. I am a multi-faceted Artist offering Henna Services & Colorful Temporary Tattoos!
About BitterSweetPreet
BitterSweetPreet is an Astoria, Queens based brand created by myself, an Indian artist, lover of pattern art, and all things spooky! The name comes from my experience of growing up with 2 different cultures (American, and Punjabi). I never felt like I belonged to either completely, so my experience has been bittersweet. I took my designs in a direction that celebrates both. I hope you enjoy!
My Services & Approach
What is Henna?
Henna powder is made from the dried leaves of the Lawsonia inermis plant, also known as the henna tree, mignonette tree, or Egyptian privet. The main ingredient in henna is lawsone, a colorless chemical molecule that turns red when exposed to air or sunlight.
All of the ingredients I use are organic and all natural. Sometimes I use a variation of the list below by adding some lemon juice. This allows the stain to darken a little more.
Henna Powder
Brown Sugar
Distilled Water
Essential Oil (Organic Eucalyptus)
Services
I use influences from my Indian heritage to apply beautiful and intricate henna pattern work in modern products such as temporary tattoos and stickers. My main services include offering henna sessions from my home studio and at local fairs/markets. If you are interested in hiring me for an event such as a birthday, wedding, or just fun with your friends/family, I offer a free consultation to discuss!
Temporary Tattoos
I design my own colorful temporary tattoos to sell (and apply) at local fairs/markets! I love to get lost in combining traditional and modern intricate designs. Using Procreate, and Adobe Illustrator I am able to bring my designs to life. I also work with a company in Texas to get them printed and shipped.
If you are interested in a custom design, it typically takes 3-4 weeks to turn around. Prices depend on the size and details of the design. Feel free to reach out so that we can get started!
